Belief Behind The Story of Kedarnath
Kedarnath Temple is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India and is located in the state of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata era. According to legend, the Pandavas wanted to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva after the battle of Kurukshetra and were directed to Kedarnath by Lord Krishna. Over the centuries, the temple has undergone several renovations and additions. The current structure of the temple is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century AD. The temple is constructed using large stone slabs and is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level.
Kedarnath Temple is also associated with the legend of the five Pandava brothers. It is believed that after the battle of Kurukshetra, the Pandavas came to Kedarnath to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva for the deaths that had occurred during the war. However, Lord Shiva was not ready to forgive them and disguised himself as a bull. The Pandavas chased the bull to catch it, but it kept disappearing. Eventually, they realized that the bull was Lord Shiva himself and begged for his forgiveness. Lord Shiva then granted them his blessings and freed them from their sins.
